Pic of the packaging for my Gyokuro from Ku Cha. If you’re ever on Pearl Street in Boulder, CO you should take a peak into the shop! Very friendly service and a beautiful setup. I also saw several tea pot sets I wanted.

Good morning!

Recently, I went on a quest to find new tea flavors. I did some googling and came across a site for a shop called The Tea Spot. After browsing their tea menu, I decided to buy a bunch of samples. The sample size, in my opinion, is pretty big! You get enough for at least 5 servings.

The sample I decided to brew today is called Thin Mint.
It’s a roasted Japanese green tea with peppermint. There is a subtle chocolatey note and the peppermint is smooth and refreshing as opposed to in-your-face-clear-your-sinuses strong.
I think this would be a great afternoon tea!

Btw, it comes as no surprise to me that The Tea Spot is based in Boulder, CO. I will definitely look for it when I visit the family this summer.

안녕하세요!
It’s a bit chilly today. Chilly, damp, and grey. Today’s tea? Bigelow brand Earl Grey. Days like this make me want to stay in bed. Black teas give me a nice boost of caffeine energy. It’s my version of coffee… minus the coffee breath! This mug is HUGE. It can hold sooo much tea! I bought it in CO after visiting Cave of the Winds.

おはようございます!
    This time it’s…
           抹茶入り玄米茶
             Macchairi Genmaicha aka Popcorn Tea!

I bought this tea while visiting a friend in NYC. She took me to a Japanese shop because she knew I would geek out and go crazy. We ordered ramen (of course!) and onigiri for lunch. Then we explored the convenience store. That’s where I came across the Popcorn Tea. I had no idea how it would taste, but I bought it anyway. So glad I did because I love this tea!
I am a huge fan of green tea, so I enjoy trying different types and flavors. Popcorn tea (which does not taste like popcorn, thank goodness) has a light, kind of grassy taste. One of my favorite green teas, sencha, has more of a seaweed-like taste and has a stronger flavor in my opinion. The best part about popcorn tea is the roasted rice. It gives off a nice aroma and adds to the flavor of the tea.

My tea mug:
I tend to drink a lot of tea and I like drinking from mugs. I only have one “real” tea cup. Ha! I got this mug in Colorado when I went to Pikes Peak. Apparently, there are people who like to run/hike up the mountain. I am not one of those people. I happily boarded the (crazy awesome) train along with my family. The scenery is breathtaking! It was fun to see the climate change as we went up. It was the middle of June, so the weather on the bottom was pleasant. At the top? It was painful! Seriously, it was so cold it hurt to stand outside for more than a minute. Even with all the layers we wore. The wind didn’t help the situation. And the snow…
The shop at the summit is well-known for it’s supposedly awesome doughnuts. Sorry, but I was not impressed. Not a fan of cake doughnuts. I prefer Krispy Creme. :-)

Good morning!
Would you like a cup of tea?

                            Currently drinking:
Celestial Seasonings’ Peach Blossom green tea

I love Celestial Seasonings. A lot of my family lives in Boulder, CO which is where CS is based. I’ve toured the factory a few times. I’m a huge fan of the gift shop. :-) Another cool place in CO? The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It’s a zoo located on one side of, you guessed it, Cheyenne Mountain. Side note: The Stargate is totally located on the other side of the same mountain. Of course, the government doesn’t want us to know that…
